Five Ways to Avoid the Seasonal Flu

Ways to keep the flu bug away from you and your family.

Well all know it; we all dread it, the flu. This time of year is the time where all the cold and flu germs start to roam free, everyone runs out to get the flu meds for that just in case time, some go and get their once a year flu shot.

Ever see those people that never get sick, never get the flu? Wonder what they do to stay healthy through out this time of the year? They take care of their bodies, here are five healthy tips you can try to stay away from the seasonal flu.

1.) Stock up on the Vitamin C ~ Citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges are filled with vitamin C, and we all know how good Vitamin C is. Vitamin C will boost your immune system and make your body stronger. This is a big help in preventing the seasonal flu as well as the common cold.

2.) Eating right is one sure way to prevent the flu, eating good foods such as vegetables, nuts, fish and whole-grains. It is good to also take a good multivitamin supplement that not only provides your body with the essential vitamins and minerals, but also herbs and other nutrients.

3.) Gargle with salt water. A teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water can do wonders, it helps to rid the flu from your throat, the flu virus is known to be dormant deep in the throat and salt water is a good way of ridding the virus from that area.

4.) Always wash your hands. You may think people will want to commit you from all the hand washing you do, but if everyone would pick up on this healthy habit, there would be a lot less sickness. It is no secret that washing your hands frequently will definitely keep you and those around you protected from seasonal flu. Also us the hand sanitizers, they have been known to keep the spread of the flu down. Hand Sanitizers have a good percentage of alcohol and alcohol is a great germ killer.

5.) Try not to touch your eyes, mouth or nose. These areas it is easy to pass the flu germ to if you do have it on your hands, another reason to constantly wash your hands.

The Center for Disease control also mentions that children and the elderly should think about getting a seasonal flu shot. Never hurts to have a little extra help.
